There’s a saying that boats or ship don’t sink because of the water around them. They sink because of the water that gets IN.
With this pandemic, it’s very important not to let what’s happening around you get inside and bring you down. My mentor, Daisaku Ikeda says, “If we cannot feel hope, it is time to create some.”
Living in Hong Kong during this difficult time and experiencing this pandemic before it even hit the world, there were days that it was still hard to accept the reality and believe that this was really happening to us. Hong Kong had a very tough 2019 and we didn’t know that it was just a preview of the full picture of how 2020 will turn out.
How do you create hope in this situation? I always ask myself that.
The answer is….we can’t find hope outside of us because it’s something that lies within us. So as long as we are alive, we can always dig inside us and we may discover that despite the darkness, we could be the source of light.
